Fernbush Chamaebatiaria millefollium
​​This little known Western native is excellent for use as a specimen or in groups for screening and hedges where little water will be available. The showy flower spikes resemble those of white lilacs from afar, but close up resemble more of a single rose. The foilage has a ferny appearance and is greyish green. Fernbush will grow well in gravel, sandy loam, loam and clay loam soils. and is very drought tolerant, good drainage is important. The spent flower heads should be deadheaded in late summer.
