Elaeagnus commutata
Deciduous shrub with distinct silvery foliage and sweet fragrant yellow flowers. Native in the Rocky Mountain region and is a nitrogen-fixing and super drought tolerant shrub. This shrub is often used in reclamation sites or hedgerows and windbreaks. As it is known to sucker, this is a perfect plant for naturalizing and native landscapes. It is known to be drought-tolerant, and thus makes an ideal choice for xeriscaping or the moisture-conserving landscape. It is particular about its soil conditions, with a strong preference for clay and alkaline soils.
