The Summit Ash (considered a Green Ash) makes a good selection in either an urban setting or to produce shade and some great fall color that is a bright, attractive yellow. As with most Ash, it is tolerant of wet soils, but will also tolerate droughts. This tree is adaptable to moist soil conditions, be it clay, loam, sand, acidic or basic (alkaline). The attractive bark is red-tinged and furrowed. The trunk is straight up through the crown with well spaced strong branches making a well formed shade tree. If you are in areas where ash borer beetle is a problem it is recommended you be on a regular spray schedule to prevent tree damage. Imicloprid (Bayer Complete Insect Control) sprayed twice a year will prevent such problems.
